UTStarcom PPC-6700 launches for Sprint consumers

Sprint Nextel has officially made the UTStarcom PPC-6700 available for the general public. Prior to today sales were limited to business channel customers. The PPC-6700 is a Windows Mobile 5.0 device made by HTC with a long feature set:

416MHz Intel CPU
EV-DO, WiFi and Bluetooth
QWERTY keyboard
miniSD card slot
1.3 megapixel camera

Sprint Music Store launches

Sprint Power Vision launched

As expected, Sprint has unveiled its consumer EV-DO service dubbed Sprint Power Vision. Power Vision covers high-speed data access for handsets, as opposed to through a laptop PC card.

Industry group eyes Qualcomm’s 3G patents

US mobile market grows, report

Research group NPD Group said Wednesday that the US mobile phone market grew again during the third quarter. The top manufacturers by market share in the US are as follows:

Nokia
Samsung
Sanyo
Kyocera
Sony Ericsson
UTStarcom/Audiovox
Siemens/BenQ

Overall Americans purchased 31.6 million mobile phones for over $2 billion.
