The GPS smartphone Mio were showing back at CES earlier this year, which uses Qualcomm’s new QST1100 combined app processor/GPS/cellular radio chip, has acquired a name and a likely release; called Lovebird, the touchscreen Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro handset has both GPS and A-GPS, quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE and 2GB of ROM to store Mio’s mapping data.

Mio Technology has introduced two concepts at CES 2008 – a navigator with SIM-connectivity and a dual-sided navigation handset. The portable navigator has a flat-panel touchscreen design. In addition to navigation functionality it features a SIM-card slot. Thus with the Mio navigator you can make calls and access the Internet.

Mio technology has unveiled a new Digi-Walker communicator – MiTAC Mio a502. It is running on Windows Mobile 6 Professional and features navigation capabilities: a built-in 20-channel GPS receiver on SiRF Star III chip. The release is set for this November.
