A long overdue replacement for the HTC Cavalier QWERTY phone, the HTC Maple, has been spotted on Germany’s CNET site. Next to nothing is known about the handset’s features other that what is seen in the photo. The Windows Mobile-based handset notably adds a BlackBerry-like trackball for navigation and a 2-megapixel camera on its backside.
A feature called Inner Circle reportedly allows users to group their contacts either as friends or work- or business-related people, with incoming e-mails and messages sorted accordingly during the work week and weekend or after-hours in order to not interfere with a busy schedule.
There is no word on date of availability or pricing in any market, though the Cavalier is sold as the T-Mobile Dash in the US and makes the American carrier a likely candidate for any replacement.
