Word broke yesterday that an Asian handset manufactorer would soon emerge as the investor in Siemens’ mobile unit spin-off. Today, the Financial Times is reporting today that the company is no other than BenQ:

BenQ, a leading Taiwanese technology group, is to become a joint venture partner in the loss-making mobile handsets arm of Siemens, according to people close to the German engineering and technology giant.

All of the papers have not been signed, but an official announcement is expected as early as tomorrow.
