Samsung SCH-S310, “beat box” phone

Samsung on Sunday announced the SCH-S310, its first attempt at a beat box phone. Motion sensing technology along with a large quanity of built-in music clips allows users to create their own tunes on the go. Additionaly, the SCH-S310 can be used as a portable drum or karaoke machine.

The motion sensing technology is used for more than just music, shaking the handset up and down will erase a text message. Calls can be dialed by writing the numbers in the air.

Other features of the SCH-S310 include:

  • 1.3 megapixel camera
  • GPS
  • Music-on-demand (MOD) and MP3 playback

The Samsung SCH-S310 will be priced around $500 US and offered in Korea. It’s possible that some of the technology will make it to US models.
