Samsung Sway music phone hits Verizon

October 6th, 2008 · Source [Electronista] · No Comments

Samsung SwayVerizon this morning added an unusual slider media phone that combines some budget and mid-range features in the same device. The Samsung Sway is capped at 1X RTT for data and so needs to use USB to sync with Verizon’s V CAST Music store rather than download over EVDO. However, the phone counters this with a two-megapixel camera that supports video capture, full Bluetooth with stereo audio and a microSDHC slot that holds up to 8GB of music and other media.

Assisted GPS is still available over VZ Navigator, as is basic web browsing and IM features. The new Samsung handset is available to order online now and will be in shops by October 14th. Pricing is normally $120 on a two-year plan but currently goes for $70 after a rebate. Contract-free pricing puts the Sway’s price up to $240.
