Sony’s first foray into the personal media player market is only available in China but a French site have been given a sample unit for review. The Sony PMX-M70 is not the best media player to be had as Journal du Geek points out. The DivX support is a little jumpy but JDG pointed some pluses for the PMP, which includes 1) form factor and screen quality, 2) format support, 3) pricing and the 4) 8GB on board memory. As for the negative, the M70 is not a touchscreen, the joystick is less than intuitive and DivX playing needs work. Of course, the product is only available for China, which is just sad, especially when you consider this is one of the cheapest Sony products around.
To recap the specs of the PMX-M70:
- 4.3-inch 480 x 272-pixel screen
- MP3, WMA, ACC, AVC (H.264/AVC), MPEG-4, AVI, SRT, JPEG, BMP, RSC and TXT
- line-in A/V
- FM
- USB 2.0
- Mic, TV out
