After being announced over a month ago, the time has finally come for the new Zunes to be launched into the market! The Zunes, along with their accessories, will be available in stores across the US while the new Zune software can be downloaded for free here.

Besides a whole bunch of new features on the PMP itself, an updated Zune marketplace, and new online services like the Zune Social, users now have the option to customize their Zunes with laser-engraved designs through a new online store called Zune Originals. You can buy a Zune from Microsoft at the Zune Originals website and choose from a collection of laser-engraved art designed exclusively for the Zune by 18 internationally recognized artists. If you don’t like the art available on the website, you can have up to three lines of text engraved instead. Damn, this alone is actually enough to tempt me into buying a Zune since I’m such a sucker for personalized stuff.

Amazon.com is now taking orders for the 80GB and 8GB Zunes.
