As expected, Nokia has today announced the second generation N-Gage. Dubbed the N-Gage QD, the new device sports a slimmer design and updated features. Here’s a quick run down of some of the new features:

• Hot-swappable MMC
• Longer battery life
• Improved gaming controls
• Brighter screen
• More powerful smartphone features
• N-Gage Arena launcher application

The first N-Gage was met with less than expected sales, which many attribute to the high price and awkward “side talking” design. The price of the N-Gage QD is $99-199, versus $299 for the original.

The N-Gage QD game deck is expected to be available in May 2004 for Europe, Africa and Asia Pacific and in June 2004 for the Americas. The N-Gage QD will be available in two versions: a GSM 900/1800 variant (Europe, Africa and Asia Pacific) and a GSM 850/1900 variant (Americas).
