Zune 80 has mediocre battery life

The Microsoft Zune 80 may be better than Apple’s 80 GB iPod Classic in a lot of ways but in terms of battery life, the Zune 80’s is fairly mediocre. A test performed by CNET shows that the Zune 80’s battery life is nowhere near close to the 30 hours Microsoft claims it has. With the WiFi turned off, the Zune 80 gets about 22 hours of battery life. You might think that this isn’t so bad, compared to the first generation Zunes, but when you compare it to the Classic’s 45 hours, the Zune fails. With the WiFi turned on, the Zune only lasts about 18.5 hours. So if you’re after a gadget that can play your music and vids for hours on end, maybe the Zune isn’t for you.

One of the questions CNET raised is if screen size has any effect on the battery life. The Zune 80’s screen is way bigger than the iPod Classic’s. What do you think?

I think its a rather silly question. Of course a larger screen is going to require more power.

Well, duh…larger screen = less battery life. Therefore, comparing iPod 80gb vs. Zune 80gb batteries is like comparing…APPLES to oranges. Heh.

I don’t really think that the battery life is a big deal. And plus….22 hours is a lot of time. Not like anyone is gonna listen to it for 22 hours straight(WITHOUT CHARGING IT) Yes people…there is something invented called a charger. What, did u expect to buy a new car battery each time you used your zune for most of the 24 hour day.
