It’s being reported that LG are to be changing their handset strategy, shifting from focusing on high-end handsets, to low-end handsets, in the $100-150 price barrier instead. This could be because LG want to shift focus on markets where they don’t have as much of a stronghold, as they do on markets where their higher-end handsets, like the Secret and Viewty, do.
Another reason could be due to the fact that, in these times, financil crisises are rife, and their lower-end handsets are sure to be snapped up by hard-up consumers. Having sold around 32 million handsets, globally, in Q2, and 3, of this year, LG hope to shift 100 million, by year’s end, and, their lower-priced handsets could play a key role in this.
