Well, this was somewhat of a surprise. Previously, it was thought the successor to Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 6.1 would be version 7, due out sometime next year. Well, not according to Microsoft CEO, Steve Ballmer. Instead, before version 7, version 6.5 will bridge the gap between 6.1 and 7. Nothing is really known about version 6.5, aside from the fact it’s due next year, and may possibly feature UI improvements. It’s currently unknown if devices running 6.1 will be able to be upgraded to version 6.5, though, going by Microsoft’s track record, it could well be possible.
