Ramcell, a regional network operator with coverage in Kentucky and Oregon, was purchased by Verizon Wireless for an undisclosed sum. The spectrum licenses and 51 cell sites will allow Verizon to cover an additional 300,000 people in Kentucky and 274,000 people in Oregon. Ramcell’s TDMA network in Kentucky will be transitioned to CDMA technology, including EV-DO Rev. A. Verizon will also upgrade Ramcell’s CDMA network in Oregon to EV-DO Rev. A. Both network upgrades should be complete by mid-2008.
