United Wireless has bought and will merge with Sprint subsidiary Velocita Wireless. Velocita operates the Mobitex data network. The Mobitex network pushes data, such as mobile email, telematics, point-of-sale and other applications to business customers. It has 200,000 subscribers. As part of the acquisition, Velocita will have to lease some of its FCC spectrum channels from Sprint affiliates.
