Calling it it one of the slimmest cell phones for the U.S. market, UTStarcom has released the CDM8960, a new CDMA-based EV-DO capable camera phone. Though the announcement didn’t say anything about carrier partnerships, its 800/1900 MHz dual-band CDMA core slates it for Sprint, Verizon Wireless or Alltel. The CMD8960 boasts a very curvy profile and definitely looks sleek when closed. Based on the Brew platform, it features Bluetooth, Openwave web browsing and video and audio media players that are compatible with most standard file formats. This primes it for Sprint’s PowerVision or Verizon’s V CAST services. The CMD8960 also includes a 1.3 megapixel camera for snapping photos, which can be stored on the 64 MB of memory or on a mini-SD card. No release date was set for the phone.
