The FCC has approved two additional entry level iDEN handsets. The i290 and i425 are both slim candybar handsets, similar in style, but with slightly different styling and screen types. Both are clearly based on the same platform as the i335 seen last month as they share the same shape and features. The i290 is a plain, unbranded device that will likely come to Sprint. The i335 seems to be a ruggedized version of this handset. The i425 for Boost adds a dedicated web access key and voicemail indicator. It is not known whether will Boost will launch this iDEN model or shift completely to the unlimited CDMA calling plans it is experimenting with.
