Today Symbian unveiled two new technologies that will enable better multimedia playback and faster wireless broadband on mobile phones, while also conserving battery life. ScreenPlay is a new graphic architecture that uses transparencies, overlays and software and hardware acceleration to improve high-definition video and games. FreeWay is an updated IP networking architecture that will be compatible with future wireless broadband networks, such as LTE and WiMax. It will improve wireless download speeds, browsing, and provide more seamless switching between disparate types of networks. Both technologies will work hand in hand with Symbian’s dual-core processor support to create performance on demand.
