Sony Ericsson encourages Compal to bid for handset orders

March 15th, 2008 · Source [DigiTimes] · No Comments

Digitimes.com with the reference to the Commercial Times reported that Sony Ericsson invited Compal Communications to bid for orders of 5 low-end and mid range handsets. All of them will be released under Sony Ericsson brand in 2009.

Sony Ericsson has switched most of low-end orders from Compal to Chi Mei Communication Systems (CMCS) in the second half of 2007. But now CMCS has already received orders for 30 million ultra low-cost handsets from Motorola, and thus Compal can become once again an ODM-maker for Sony Ericsson.
