The new microSD card from Samsung is the largest available, doubling the capacity of microSD cards on the market today. It makes use of the Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) standard to reach the 8GB of storage, which is enough for 2,000 mp3s or 4,000 photos. It reads data at 16 MB per second and writes data at 6 MB per second, which means you can interact with your stored media much faster. microSD cards are the de-facto storage standard for many phones, though most do not support SDHC and are only compatible with cards that range up to 2GB in size. With phones like the Nokia N95 requiring more storage to support their high-quality media functions, large storage cards will become more standard over time.
