Samsung this week was granted a patent for a hinge design previously seen in some cases, but never electronic devices. The dual hinges will allow one half of the clamshell to rotate a full 360 degrees. This will allow the lid to close on either on the front or the back of the phone. Samsung envisions multiple keypads and interfaces on different faces of the two halves that are accessible depending on how the device is folded. The Nokia E90 uses a similar dual hinge design, however one side cannot fold completely behind the other.
