Samsung Intros 3 New Sliders

June 19th, 2007 · Source · No Comments

The three new fashion phones from Samsung were announced at the CommunicAsia show in Singapore and target Asian markets. At least one is quad-band GSM and can be used in the U.S. All three use a new touch-sensitive keypad and reworked user interfaces for interacting with the phones. They also make use of metallic finishes. The E950 will ship by the end of July, and the E840 and J600 are already available in certain countries.

  • SGH-E950: This tri-band GSM slider comes with a 3.2 Megapixel camera and the new graphical user interface that makes use of new icons and menus that appear in the touchpad area. These icons change depending on which application is being used. This new UI is called Espresso. It also has Stereo Bluetooth, and a TV out jack for video output.
  • SGH-E840: The 10.6-millimeter E840 is the only one likely to be seen in the U.S., with its quad-band GSM/EDGE radios. Along with the new user interface, it comes with a 2 Megapixel camera, microSD slot for storing media, and Bluetooth 2.0. It uses Samsung’s latest Web browser, and lets users zoom in and out to better see the pages.
  • SGH-J600: This is the economy phone of the bunch, and offers a 1.3 Megapixel camera, as well as music playback, microSD slot, and multiple metallic finishes.
