Today RIM announced a new application that will give users access to a mobile version of the Facebook social networking web site. The application takes advantage of RIM’s push-based email systems to send messages and notifications instantly to users’ BlackBerries. Icons on the phone will also allow users to alter their status, add friends, upload pictures or send messages. The application is a free download and will be available later today.
