Sales of mobile phones worldwide grew 26% in the first quarter of 2006 when compared to the same period last year. An estimated 226.7 million handsets were sold during the quarter according to research firm IDC. Even with the big gain, Q1 sales are still lagging 7% behind Q4 2005.
