Paid for applications coming next week for Google’s Android Market

February 15th, 2009 · Source [android-developers] · 1 Comment

AndroidLate last year, it was said that Google’s Android OS Android Market would be getting paid applications sometime in the first quarter of this year. Up until now, the Android Market consisted of only free applications. That is no longer the case, at least for the US version of the Android Market, where paid for applications should start becoming available sometime next week.

It should be noted that the RC33 firmware for T-Mobile’s G1 already has support for paid for applications from the Android Market. Sometime later this quarter, the Android Market for the following countries will also be getting paid for applications - Austria, Germany, France, The Netherlands, and Spain. There is only one form of payment for paid for applications - unsurprisingly, Google Checkout.
