Nokia today has offered to replace 46 million BL-5C batteries manufactured between December 2005 and November 2006. The batteries, manufactured by Matsushita, could be faulty and overheat. Nokia said 100 cases of this have been discovered so far. The BL-5C is used in some of Nokia’s most popular models such as the 1100, 6230, and 6682 as well as some Nseries and Eseries handsets. Owners can enter their battery serial into a web form and Nokia will replace models that are from the potentially hazardous lot.
