Motorola has agreed to acquire 50 percent of Sony Ericsson’s ownership of UI Holdings, which owns UIQ. The companies will share joint ownership of UI Holdings, and will work together to develop the user interface platform further. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but UIQ will continue to be developed independently of chipset design and will continue to be licensed to other manufacturers.
