Microsoft and Nokia held a joint teleconference earlier today to announce the deployment of various Microsoft products on Nokia’s Symbian platform. It may not live up to some of the rumours circling before the conference that Nokia was going to work on a WinMo device, but it’s still an important announcement, for Symbian users at any rate. Office Mobile, Office Communicator Mobile, SharePoint and Microsoft System Centre are all coming to Symbian and there was a promise of future collaboration.
For their part Nokia stated that they had no plans to work on a WinMo device, being quite happy as they are with Symbian. They did leave the door open though with a comment that there may be “other business opportunities” in the future. You can watch the teleconference in the video here courtesy of Engadget.
