According to the New York Times, GPhone will noy be Gogle’s phone in the same sense that iPhone is Apple’s phone. Coming from reliable sources, the NYT learned that Gogle is busy making a suite of services where it can monetize by selling advertising. The GPhone may be nnounced this year, just don’t expect any multi-touchscreen iPhone-like hardware. Rather tha being an iPhone rival, GPhone will be a Windows Mobile rival and future success of the Google services suite for mobile phones will be largely dependent on the response of wireless carriers, if they think they want Google to run the show instead of them.
