A report from the National Research Council beseeches for more studies into the health effects of cell phone radiation on the human body. The report points out that much of the current research available was conducted on healthy adults. It spells out the need for more information regarding the specific absorption rates for children, pregnant women and fetuses, which absorb radiation differently from adults. Because many of the original tests were also conducted with rod-like exterior antennas, the report notes that certain tests need to be redone now that many phones–and laptops–have internal antennas that expose different parts of the body to radiation.
