Google announced that it is expanding the amount of advertising it delivers to mobile devices, hoping to expand the mobile advertising audience and create more revenue.
Now any Website accessible from a mobile Web browser will be able to participate in Google’s mobile advertising program. Previously the company had only been displaying mobile ads based on queries entered into its own search site or partners’ sites. Google’s mobile ad plan will now work more like its Web-based advertising, tying ads to a wider range of mobile content. When users click on the ads, the advertiser pays Google a fee that it shares with the publisher of the Web page.
The expanded mobile advertising service will be available in 13 countries, including the United States, England, Germany, Spain, China and India.
