European Union Opens Antitrust Case Against Qualcomm

October 1st, 2007 · Source [Phone Scoop] · No Comments

The case, expected after six mobile technology companies filed a complaint with the EU, will investigate Qualcomm’s alleged unfair and abusive business practices. The complaint says that Qualcomm refused to share licensing terms of its mobile technology and has infringed on the EU’s competition rules. Broadcom, Ericsson, NEC, Nokia, Panasonic Mobile and Texas Instruments said Qualcomm was not making its intellectual property available at competitive rates. Though the case was elevated to high priority status, it will likely take two years to investigate.
