Ericsson considers buying Motorola phone business?

February 4th, 2008 · Source [Mobile-Review] · No Comments

Today, at an investment analyst conference, Ericsson company chief Carl-Henric Svanberg has announced, that, Ericsson would consider buying Motorola’s mobile business, if it indeed does become a possible option, due to the fact that Motorola are contemplating splitting wireless from it’s other businesses in view of the downfall his division has been experiencing for a long while. Ironically, Svanberg went on record saying that Ericsson avoided buying out other companies in the past, because, he feels that Ericsson is “better off “ improving its own. He also added that “We (Ericsson) are probably the company of all our competitors that has acquired the least because we do base our strategy on our own internal work–R&D and organic growth”.
