BT Latest Candidate In Possible Sprint Buyout

September 29th, 2007 · Source [Phone Scoop] · No Comments

Rumors on Wall Street today suggested British Telecom (BT) is considering a purchase of Sprint. Though the rumors have helped Sprint’s stock price, most analysts do not believe BT is likely to buy the carrier. BT no longer owns a mobile carrier, having sold O2 to Telefonica recently, leaving the British wireline provider few obvious reasons to invest in an American carrier. However both are members of the WiMax Spectrum Owners Alliance and have a strong interest in the technology. Previous rumors that placed SK Telecom as a front runner to buy out Sprint have been denied by the Korean carrier.
