Broadcom Accepts Damages, Seeks Injunction Against Qualcomm

November 26th, 2007 · Source [Reuters] · No Comments

Broadcom did not win the double damages it sought in its patent dispute with rival chipmaker Qualcomm, but a federal judge affirmed the original jury verdict that Qualcomm willfully infringed on Broadcom’s patents concerning wireless radio technology. Broadcom accepted the $19.6 million fine levied against Qualcomm and will not retry the case to get more in damages. Broadcom did say it will pursue an injunction to prevent Qualcomm from importing or otherwise using the WCDMA and EV-DO chips in question.
