Alltel customers now have an easy option for getting directions and information on nearby attractions on their mobile phone, with the operator launching a new location based service (LBS) application called WHERE. In conjunction with a handset’s on-board GPS, WHERE will provide information on gas stations, shops, restaurants, hotels, parks, golf courses, ATMs, hospitals, and schools in the immediate area, as well as providing maps and simple directions to other locations.
