Overall and 2007 Video Game Console Sales Numbers in the U.S.

January 20th, 2008 · Source [I4U] · No Comments

WiiNow that the holiday shopping season of 2007 is a couple of weeks behind us it is time to look at the sales numbers of the video game consoles.

The numbers below are from the market research company NPD Group that got released end of last week.

Nintendo took the first two spots with the DS and the Wii, by a huge margin. Surprising is still that the Sony PS2 sold almost 4 million times - outselling the Sony PS3 by 1.5 million.

If Nintendo would have been able to step up the Wii production they would have sure sold considerably more than the 6,290,000 million consoles. In case you wondered, there are still no $249 Wii consoles available online. The price on Amazon.com third party offer has come down to slightly under $400.

All three new generation video game consoles have still a very long way to catch the 40 million mark of the Sony PS2, especially when the PS2 is still selling in the millions.
