Sprint launches Novatel Merlin S620 EV-DO card

June 16th, 2005 · Source · No Comments

wow-s620.jpgSprint PCS today launched another EV-DO data card, the Novatel Wireless Merlin S620. While Sprint PCS hasn’t technically launched EV-DO service yet, the card will work albeit at a slower speed until the 3G data service is launched. By the end of the year, Sprint should have EV-DO in sixy metro areas.

While the Merlin S620 has a list price of $249.99, it’s selling for $49.99 online after special discounts.

Back in March Sprint PCS launched a EV-DO capable data card from Sierra Wireless.

EV-DO is a 3G data-only technology in the CDMA standard family. It allows for broadband type downloads, similar to what a DSL connection might have.
