In a study on the US wireless industry, research group IDC noted that fourth quarter 2004 US wireless data revenues hit $1.6 billion. That works out to approximately $3 per wireless user per month. Overall data made up 5.8% of average revenue per user though that figure is expected to triple in the next few years. Messaging accounted for about half of all data revenue.
