Earlier this month MobileTracker reported that Cingular was recalling some Motorola V600 handsets. A week before the recall was announced, Cingular dropped the V600 from its line up.

The plot thickens when today RCR Wireless News says they asked Motorola about the recall and Motorola claimed there was no recall. Since we have read dozens of reports from customers claiming that they sent their V600 into Cingular we do not believe Motorola.

Also in the RCR report is that Cingular will be picking up a phone “similar” to the V600 in time for the holidays. We suspect this phone is the Motorola V551 which has everything the V600 has plus EDGE high-speed data.
