Cingular today launched Motorola’s V3xx, a 3G version of the popular RAZR. The V3xx is not easily distinguishable from other RAZRs, however it is notable in its own right. It is the first 3G phone for Cingular capable of 3.6 Mbps HSDPA. Previous handsets, including smartphones such as the BlackJack or 8525 have been capped at 1.8 Mbps. Although Cingular has been selling 3.6 Mbps capable data cards for some time, the network is still running at 1.8 Mbps, so users will not be able to take full advantage of the V3xx’s enhanced speeds yet. A Cingular spokesman tells us the company will increase the network’s data speed once more devices capable of 3.6 Mbps are available. The V3xx is tri-band GSM/EDGE with 850/1900 HSDPA, and features Bluetooth, a 1.3 Megapixel camera and MicroSD card slot.
