MSI introduces the first Soleus-based phone

MSI 5608 SoleusAt CES 2008 in Las Vegas Taiwan’s MSI has introduced a mobile phone prototype based on Intrinsyc Soleus platform. The platform is built on Windows Embedded CE 6.0. Currently this is an early prototype under the index 5608. It has a big touchscreen and no keyboard. MSI 5608 interface is a “barrel” type (revolving), the screen icons provide access to various opportunities.

The first Soleus phone works in GSM/EDGE networks powered by Samsung S3C (400 MHz) processor. MSI 5608 features a 2.8” 240×432 pixels touchscreen display, Wi-Fi, an integrated GPS-receiver, a 2-megapixel camera and a TV-receiver. The device comes with an accelerometer, the popular function to operate the device by motion. The start of sales is set for this March in Asia and then in Europe and the US.
