Samsung to develop five megapixel camera sensors for Nokia

May 15th, 2008 · Source [Mobile-Review] · No Comments

Nokia has chosen fellow handset maker Samung, to supply them with five megapixel camera sensors from now on. For Nokia’s low, and mid-end handsets, the company had been using sensors from Swiss company, STMicroelectronics. However, Nokia has now switched to Korean-based Samsung, because, apparently, they are faster than STMicroelectronics at bringing new sensors to the mobile phone market. Nokia still rely on companies such as OmniVision, and Aptina (image specialists), for their high end camera phone sensors.
