Kodak Reduces Size of Camera Sensors in Mobile Phones

February 5th, 2008 · Source [Reuters] · No Comments

Today Kodak announced a new camera sensor for mobile phones that will allow higher Megapixel cameras to be placed into smaller phones. The KAC-05020 Image Sensor uses a 1.4 micron 5-Megapixel design that is smaller than today’s standard 1.75 micron designs. It still maintains the same level of quality while reducing size, costs and allowing for all camera phones to have high-Megapixel cameras in them. Manufacturers will have access to the new sensor beginning in the second half of this year. End users can expect devices with it to ship in 2009.
