RIM has filed a patent application for a communicator with the touchscreen display and a slide-out QWERTY-keyboard. Should the company make a real product on this one (it happens not always), we’ll see the first BlackBerry with the touchscreen, the device has been rumored much for a long time. In the application the device includes the RIM’s signature trackball navigation. It supports stylus and finger-friendly navigation depending on the touchscreen nature.

The screen interface rotates automatically, when the device changes its position from landscape to portrait and vice versa. The only thing isn’t clear enough, why RIM decided to get the patent for the modeling, ready solutions of which already exist on the market. As for the release date of the BlackBerry communicator with the touchscreen, there is no info, besides it might take quite a time for a patent to grow to a ready product.
