Research In Motion (RIM) today announced the long-rumored BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220, the company’s first device in a clamshell form factor. The 8220 is a quad-band GSM/EDGE phone with dual color displays. The outer display can show previews of incoming emails and text messages, while the inside is dominated by a QVGA main display. Like the Pearl 8120, the 8220 sports a SureType text keypad, Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi (including UMA,) 2 megapixel camera with flash, and memory card slot supporting cards up to 16 GB. The Pearl Flip 8220 will be exclusive to T-Mobile in the US, and will go on sale this fall.
