Nokia beats average phone price estimates in Q1

April 11th, 2006 · Source · No Comments

Nokia beat both internal and analyst estimates for the average handset price in Q1. The average selling price (ASP) per handset was $124.80 while estimates topped out at $122.25. It’s the highest average price over the past three quarters. Cheap entry-level phones made up a smaller than anticipated share of total handset sales, which in turn increased the ASP. The Nokia N70 is thought to have been a hot seller. Shares of Nokia jumped on the news and hit levels unseen for the past two years.

Some analysts were not impressed though, because more detailed figures like market share were not released. Nokia’s full quarterly statement will come out on April 20.
