Nokia and Kyocera settle patent dispute

January 11th, 2006 · Source · No Comments

Nokia and Kyocera this week announced a resolution to a patent infringement spat. Both companies alledged the other infringed on patents related to mobile handsets. A cross licensing deal was made and all legal actions between the two companies has ceased.

In Nokia’s case, it claimed patents relating to CDMA, a 3G standard; PDC, a 2G standard used in Japan; and PHS, a mobile network system, had been infringed by Kyocera. Kyocera said the Finnish firm was using several patents without permission in a number of its handsets.
