According to Reuters, Vodafone is preparing a $30 billion plus bid for AT&T Wireless. As we previously reported, all bids for the carrier must be made by February 13th. The market cap for AT&T Wireless was a hair under $30 billion as of Friday’s close.

The fact that Vodafone is a serious contender is interesting because it owns a minority stake in Verizon Wireless, a rival to AT&T Wireless. Could one company have interests in two competitors? We’ll see.
