Union Authorizes Strike Against AT&T

February 9th, 2009 · Source [RCR Wireless News] · No Comments

Members of the Communications Workers of America voted in support of a strike against AT&T Mobility, which employs about 20,000 of the union members. The CWA is renegotiating its contract with AT&T and there are concerns over how changes in compensation and working conditions requested by the CWA are being/not being met by AT&T. The CWA says that little progress has been made to resolve the issues, and its current contract expires at midnight on February 7. Any strike initiated by the CWA against AT&T would need to be approved by the CWA’s executive board.
