Cingular’s $41 billion takeover of AT&T Wireless should go down within 2 months, much faster than originally projected. According to the report from TheDeal.com we can expect the FCC to give approval in October.
Sources said Cingular has been working overtime to secure government acceptance of the merger prior to the November elections. Cingular fears that a change in presidential administrations could significantly delay the deal, since a new assistant attorney general and FCC chairman would require time to get up to speed on the transaction.
